Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 10 Babybel cheese rounds unwrapped
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • olive oil spray
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley optional

Method

  1. Set up three bowls: flour in the first, eggs whisked with milk in the second, and panko mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in the third.
  2. Pat the unwrapped Babybel rounds very dry with paper towels.
  3. Coat each cheese round in flour, dip in egg wash, then press into seasoned panko.
  4. Dip each round back into egg wash, then press into panko again for a second coat.
  5. Freeze the breaded rounds for 10 minutes.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F and lightly grease the basket with olive oil spray.
  7. Arrange cheese rounds in a single layer with space between them; spray the tops lightly with olive oil spray.
  8. Air fry for 7 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  9. Rest for 2 minutes, garnish with parsley if using, and serve immediately.

Notes

- Drying the cheese helps the coating stick and reduces blowouts.
- The double coat plus a short freeze helps the crust set before the cheese melts.
- Keep the rounds in a single layer and cook in batches for the best crisping.
