Ingredients
Method
- Core the apples, then slice them into thin rounds about 1/8 inch thick. Do not peel the apples.
- Pat the apple slices dry on both sides with paper towels to remove excess surface moisture.
- In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until evenly combined.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil spray.
- Arrange a single layer of apple slices in the air fryer basket, spacing them slightly apart. Work in batches as needed.
- Sprinkle a light, even coating of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the apple slices.
- Air fry at 350°F for 7 to 8 minutes, until the slices look glossy and the edges begin to curl.
- Flip the apple slices, then air fry for another 5 to 7 minutes, checking frequently in the last 2 minutes, until golden and crisp.
- Transfer the finished apple chips to a wire rack to cool completely and crisp up.
- Repeat steps 5 through 9 with the remaining apple slices and cinnamon sugar.
- Once fully cooled, serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
- Use a mandoline slicer for very even 1/8 inch apple slices and more consistent crisping.
- Keep slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket to avoid steaming and ensure crisp chips.
- If the chips soften during storage, re crisp them in the air fryer at 300°F for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Use different apple varieties for slightly different sweetness and flavor.
- Let the chips cool fully on a rack; they continue to crisp as they cool.
