Preparation
- Lightly butter one side of the bread, aiming for a thin, even layer.
- Place a parchment liner in the air fryer basket and set the bread (buttered side down) on top.
- Scatter the grated or thinly sliced cheddar over the top of the bread, leaving a small ring clear around the edge.
- Add thinly sliced veggies on top of the cheese.
- Crack the egg into the center well of the cheese.
- Slide the prepared toast into the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Cooking
- Cook until the egg white is opaque and the cheddar is melted with tiny browned spots.
- Carefully lift the parchment and transfer the toast to a plate.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, use thinly sliced or wilted vegetables, maintain a cheese rim around the egg, and watch for visual cues rather than time when cooking.
