Ingredients
  

For the dough
  • 1 cup water Hot water helps gelatinize the flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Adds richness to the dough
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
For the coating
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Enhances flavor
  • 1 cup sugar For rolling churros after cooking
For serving
  • 1 serving chocolate ganache Ideal for dipping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the flour until a smooth ball forms. Let it cool slightly for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Transfer the dough to a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Pipe 4–5 inch strips of dough directly onto parchment paper or a clean surface, ensuring they don’t touch.
  3. Cook in the air fryer for about 10 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  4. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl and roll the churros in this mixture immediately after cooking.
Serving
  1. Plate the warm churros and serve with chocolate ganache for dipping.

Notes

Best served warm. Store leftover churros in an airtight container for up to 2 days, reheat in air fryer to regain crispness.
