Ingredients
Method
- Spread the softened salted butter evenly over one side of each slice of bread, coating all the way to the edges.
- Place the rack insert in the air fryer basket and spray the rack lightly with cooking oil.
- Arrange the buttered bread slices butter side up on a plate or board, then use your fingers or the back of a spoon to press a shallow indentation in the center of each slice to help hold the egg.
- Crack one egg into a small ramekin or bowl, keeping the yolk intact.
- Carefully pour the egg from the ramekin into the center indentation of one slice of bread. Repeat with the second egg and bread slice.
- Using a spatula, carefully transfer the egg topped bread slices onto the oiled rack in the air fryer basket, keeping the basket level so the eggs do not spill.
- Sprinkle the eggs evenly with kosher salt and black pepper.
- Air fry at 375°F for 6 minutes, or until the egg whites are set and the bread edges are golden.
- Use a thin spatula to carefully lift the egg toast from the air fryer. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a more set yolk, cook for 7 to 8 minutes instead of 6 minutes.
- Thicker bread may need an extra 1 to 2 minutes of air frying for crisp edges.
- Leftover egg toast can be cooled, refrigerated for 1 day, and reheated in the air fryer at 320°F for 2 to 3 minutes.
