Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 slices sandwich bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon neutral cooking oil spray
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Method

  1. Spread the softened salted butter evenly over one side of each slice of bread, coating all the way to the edges.
  2. Place the rack insert in the air fryer basket and spray the rack lightly with cooking oil.
  3. Arrange the buttered bread slices butter side up on a plate or board, then use your fingers or the back of a spoon to press a shallow indentation in the center of each slice to help hold the egg.
  4. Crack one egg into a small ramekin or bowl, keeping the yolk intact.
  5. Carefully pour the egg from the ramekin into the center indentation of one slice of bread. Repeat with the second egg and bread slice.
  6. Using a spatula, carefully transfer the egg topped bread slices onto the oiled rack in the air fryer basket, keeping the basket level so the eggs do not spill.
  7. Sprinkle the eggs evenly with kosher salt and black pepper.
  8. Air fry at 375°F for 6 minutes, or until the egg whites are set and the bread edges are golden.
  9. Use a thin spatula to carefully lift the egg toast from the air fryer. Serve immediately.

Notes

- For a more set yolk, cook for 7 to 8 minutes instead of 6 minutes.
- Thicker bread may need an extra 1 to 2 minutes of air frying for crisp edges.
- Leftover egg toast can be cooled, refrigerated for 1 day, and reheated in the air fryer at 320°F for 2 to 3 minutes.
