Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • cooking spray
  • 1 cup marinara sauce for dipping

Method

  1. Cut each mozzarella stick in half to make 24 pieces.
  2. Set up three bowls: flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder and oregano in the third.
  3. Coat each mozzarella piece in flour, dip in egg, then roll in the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Dip each piece back into egg and roll again in breadcrumbs for a double coating.
  5. Place coated sticks on a plate in a single layer and freeze for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F.
  7. Lightly spray the sticks with cooking spray and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  8. Air fry for 6 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crisp.
  9. Serve immediately with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

- Freezing for 30 minutes prevents the cheese from leaking during cooking.
- Cook in batches to keep a single layer in the basket for the crispiest coating.
