Preparation
- Mix the teriyaki sauce base in a small bowl by stirring together soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, water, minced ginger, and minced garlic until uniform.
- Lightly season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
Cooking
- Air fry the chicken pieces in a single layer until golden and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Cook in batches if necessary.
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, warm the vegetable oil.
- Add the air-fried chicken to the skillet, and pour the teriyaki sauce over it. Stir to coat.
- Reduce heat to low, stir the cornstarch slurry, and pour it into the skillet while stirring until the sauce thickens into a sticky glaze, about 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, and serve hot with rice or noodles.
Notes
For best results, keep chicken pieces uniform in size and avoid crowding the air fryer basket. Stir the cornstarch slurry right before adding to the sauce.
