Preparation
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Slice the apples into 'fries' or wedges, aiming for similar thickness.
- In a bowl, mix together the almond flour (or regular flour), cinnamon, and sugar (if using).
- In a second bowl, beat the egg until smooth.
Coating and Air Frying
- Dip each apple slice in the egg first, letting excess drip off, then press into the flour mixture for a good coating.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray (or oil).
- Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer in the basket.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
Serving
- Serve warm, ideally right out of the air fryer.
Notes
For best results, do not crowd the basket and watch the last 1-2 minutes of cooking. Variations include cutting apples thinner for crispier texture or skipping sugar for a less sweet snack.
