  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese cut into 1 in cubes or thick coins
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs half plain and half seasoned
  • 1 large egg whisked
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • cooking spray
  • 1 cup marinara sauce for dipping
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing for dipping

Method
 

  1. Cut mozzarella into 1 in cubes or thick coins and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Set up 3 shallow bowls: flour mixed with salt and pepper, whisked egg, and breadcrumbs.
  3. Roll each mozzarella piece in seasoned flour, dip in egg, then press firmly into breadcrumbs to coat well.
  4. Place coated mozzarella on a plate and chill for 15 minutes.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F and lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
  6. Arrange mozzarella in a single layer with space between pieces and lightly spray the tops.
  7. Air fry for 6 minutes, shaking the basket at 3 minutes, until deeply golden.
  8. Rest for 1 minute, then serve immediately with marinara and ranch.

Notes

- Chill time prevents cheese blowouts and keeps the center gooey.
- Use string cheese coins or mozzarella pearls for the most consistent shape and melt.
