Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 2 large large onions
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Cooking spray For spraying the onions while cooking

Method

Preparation
  1. Trim and slice the onions into thin rings about 1/8-inch (3 mm) thick, then gently separate the rings into individual pieces.
  2. Place the separated rings in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for 10–15 minutes to soften the layers.
Coating
  1. While the onions soak, whisk the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in a shallow bowl until evenly blended.
  2. Drain the onions and pat them dry on paper towels to reduce moisture.
  3. Dredge each ring through the flour mixture, turning to coat completely and shaking off excess flour.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Arrange the coated rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray the tops with cooking spray.
  3. Cook for 10–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Look for golden-brown edges and an audible crisp.
  4. Transfer the cooked rings to a cooling rack or paper towels to keep crisp.

Notes

Pat the rings dry thoroughly before coating for better adhesion. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.
