Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced Use a large onion for the best results.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooking spray or a small amount of oil For prepping the air fryer basket.

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel and thinly slice the onion into rings or strips.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Toss the onion slices in the dry mixture until they are well coated.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or lightly oil it.
  3. Place the coated onions in the basket in a single layer; work in batches if necessary.
  4. Air fry for 15–20 minutes, shaking or stirring halfway through until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the onions and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Ensure that the onions are evenly coated for consistent crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for proper air circulation. If cooking in batches, check the second batch as it may cook faster. For extra flavor, consider adding cayenne pepper or onion powder to the coating.
