  • 2 large onions Peeled and sliced into thin rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Preparation
  1. Peel the onions and slice them into thin rings, about ¼ inch thick.
  2. Place the sliced onions in a bowl and cover them with buttermilk. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly mixed.
Cooking
  1. Remove the onions from the buttermilk, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Dip each ring into the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  2. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  3. Spray the air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray. Place a single layer of onion rings in the basket and spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
  4. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the onion rings are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Carefully remove the crispy onions from the air fryer and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket and allow the rings to cool on a wire rack. Adjust cooking time based on your air fryer model.
