Preparation
- Cut the tops off the mini onions and peel them. Make cuts in a star pattern to create petals, ensuring to not cut all the way through.
- In a first bowl, mix flour with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- In a second bowl, whisk the egg and milk until smooth.
- In a third bowl, add the breadcrumbs.
Coating
- Dip each onion into the seasoned flour, then into the egg-milk mixture, and finally coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs.
Cooking
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the onions inside with some space between them.
- Lightly spray the tops of the onions with cooking spray. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Serve right away with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
For crispiness, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Adjust cooking time if needed to achieve an even golden color. Best enjoyed immediately after cooking.
