Preparation and Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan with flour.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, water, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until fully emulsified.
- Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until you achieve a smooth, lump-free batter.
- Transfer the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
Making the Ganache
- Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to boil.
- Pour the heated cream over the chopped chocolate in a bowl and stir until smooth and glossy.
- Once the cake is completely cooled, pour the ganache over the top, allowing it to beautifully drip down the sides.
