Ingredients
Method
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, barbecue sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
- Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and toss until every piece is evenly coated in the honey BBQ marinade.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes to marinate.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Arrange the marinated chicken in a single layer in the basket, leaving a little space between pieces so air can circulate.
- Air fry at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket or turning the chicken halfway through cooking.
- Check that the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F, and that the outside is caramelized and slightly sticky.
- Let the chicken bites rest in the basket for 2 to 3 minutes, then transfer to a serving plate and serve hot.
Notes
- Cut the chicken pieces the same size so they cook evenly.
- For extra saucy bites, brush on a little more barbecue sauce during the last 2 minutes of cooking.
- Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if needed so the chicken crisps properly.
- Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3 to 5 minutes.
