Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 0.75 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs such as parsley or cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for drizzling

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, water, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and garlic powder, and stir until a soft dough forms.
  2. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 1 to 2 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Shape the dough into a log, then cut into 8 equal pieces.
  4. Flatten each piece into a round about 0.25 inch thick, using your hands or a rolling pin.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F.
  6. Place several flatbreads in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each piece.
  7. Air fry for 4 minutes, then flip each flatbread and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until puffed and golden brown in spots.
  8. In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil with the chopped fresh garlic and herbs.
  9. Brush or drizzle the hot flatbreads with the garlic herb oil as soon as they come out of the air fryer.
  10. Repeat with remaining dough, then serve the garlic flatbreads warm.

Notes

- If the dough feels too dry while mixing, add 1 teaspoon water at a time until it comes together smoothly.
- If using all-purpose flour instead of self-rising, whisk 2 cups all-purpose flour with 3 teaspoons baking powder and 0.5 teaspoon salt before adding the liquids.
