Ingredients
  

For the Beef Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef Use good-fat ground beef for browning and flavor.
  • 1 tsp olive oil For sautéing the onion and garlic.
  • 1 onion, chopped Adds sweetness when sautéed.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Provides flavor to the filling.
  • 1 tsp ground cumin Seasoning for the beef.
  • 1 tsp paprika Adds warmth to the flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
For the Pockets and Toppings
  • 4 pita pockets Warm until pliable before filling.
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded Keeps the pockets fresh.
  • 1 tomato, diced Adds freshness.
  • 1/2 cucumber, diced Provides crunch.
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled For a creamy and tangy finish.
  • 1/4 cup tzatziki sauce Adds a cooling element.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat 1 tsp olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon and stirring occasionally until browned and no longer pink.
  3. Sprinkle in cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper; stir to coat the meat. Cook until browned and flavor develops.
  4. Warm the pita pockets in the oven or microwave until pliable.
Assembly
  1. Open each pita and fill with a quarter of the beef mixture. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, diced cucumber, and crumbled feta.
  2. Drizzle tzatziki sauce over the filling before serving.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes

Keep the lettuce and cucumber raw and add them at assembly to avoid sogginess. Reheat leftovers in an air fryer to regain crispness.
