Preparation
- Season each tuna steak generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté it until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Take care not to burn it.
Cooking
- Place the seasoned tuna steaks in the skillet, searing for 1-2 minutes on each side for a nice brown crust and a medium-rare center.
- In the last minute of cooking, add a knob of butter and your choice of fresh herbs to the pan, basting the steaks with the melted garlic herb butter.
- Once cooked, remove the tuna from the heat and let it rest for a minute before serving.
Notes
Serve with roasted vegetables or a crisp salad. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.
