Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces Tuna steaks Fresh, high-quality tuna steaks are preferred.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced for flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Can substitute with olive oil for a lighter option.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil For sautéing.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper Freshly ground for best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh herbs Choose from parsley, thyme, or dill.

Method

Preparation
  1. Season each tuna steak generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  2. In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sauté it until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Take care not to burn it.
Cooking
  1. Place the seasoned tuna steaks in the skillet, searing for 1-2 minutes on each side for a nice brown crust and a medium-rare center.
  2. In the last minute of cooking, add a knob of butter and your choice of fresh herbs to the pan, basting the steaks with the melted garlic herb butter.
  3. Once cooked, remove the tuna from the heat and let it rest for a minute before serving.

Notes

Serve with roasted vegetables or a crisp salad. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.
