Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water To activate the yeast.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Enhances flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) Activates the dough.
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
Boiling Solution and Topping
  • 1/4 cup baking soda For boiling the pretzels.
  • 1 large egg (beaten) For glazing the pretzels.
  • to taste coarse sea salt For sprinkling on top.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and salt. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the flour and mix until a dough starts to form. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 450°F (230°C) while the dough rises.
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the baking soda.
  3. Roll the dough into long ropes and cut them into bite-sized pieces.
  4. Carefully boil the pretzel bites in baking soda water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Brush each pretzel bite with the beaten egg and sprinkle coarse sea salt on top.
  6. Place pretzel bites in the air fryer basket in a single layer and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving for the best texture.

Notes

Store leftover pretzel bites in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes.
